Cookies

If you have an account and you log in to any of our sites, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in to any of our sites, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on our sites may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, maps etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you had visited the other website.

All analytics data we hold is not personally identifiable and used only to improve our websites.

Contact forms

Any data submitted through our contact forms or public facing email addresses will be directed by secure email to the appropriate volunteer staff to respond to your inquiry, and used solely for the purpose of fulfilling your request.

We use Google’s reCAPTCHA service for spam prevention purposes. Google does not have access to the information you submit but may log data about you such as your IP address or perform other analytics. Please see Google’s privacy policy here for further information.

Accounts

Should you create an account on any of our sites we will hold account data for the lifetime of the account. Any content you create on our sites becomes licenced to Bristol Open Technology Lab C.I.C. under a CC Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International licence in perpetuity. Deleting your account will not remove any published content or its licence but may affect our ability to accurately credit your work.

Should you become a member we will hold information you provide for the duration of your membership. This includes information we are required to hold about our members by law, and information needed to contact you.

If you choose to pay by Direct Debit your payments will be processed by GoCardless, see their privacy policy here for more information.

Upon becoming a member we will add you to our MailChimp mailing list, and our members-only forum hosted by Discourse. Please see MailChimp’s privacy policy here and Discourse’s privacy policy here for further information.

Some limited information about you may be shared with our volunteer staff (such as inductors on a specific tool) where needed for administrative purposes.

What rights you have over your data

All our websites provide the option to delete your account should you wish to do so.

Upon termination of your membership we will delete any membership information we hold about you within 28 days, unless you request us not to (if you wish to resume your membership in future for example). This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Termination of your membership does not automatically delete accounts on our wiki or forum, but will remove you from our Mailing lists and any other members-only areas. Deleting your account will not remove any published content or its licence but may affect our ability to accurately credit your work.

If you require a copy of data we hold about you or the deletion of your data please request this in writing to “Bristol Hackspace Data Compliance” at the registered address listed above. We will respond to your request within 28 days of receipt of a valid request. Please note for data protection we will need to confirm your identification prior to releasing any data we hold.

Who we share your data with

Bristol Open Technology Lab C.I.C. will never sell your data.

We will share data some data about you with our landlord, Meridian Studios, when required by the terms of our lease (such as in the event of behaviour leading to a ban from the premises), and with insurers in the event of a claim.

We will share any data we hold about you with law enforcement agencies when required to do so by English law.

How we protect your data

All data we hold is protected as per industry standard best practice. In the unlikely event of a breach of security of your personal data we will follow the Information Commissioners Office reporting requirements according to the severity of the breach.
