General Waste Bins: There are general bins in each room of the Hackspace. These bins should be used for unrecyclable “landfill” and also for some types of recycling. When they are full you should empty them into the building's skip.

The building's skip is locked to prevent fly-tipping. There is a key hanging on a hook in the cupboard under the stairs.

If the skip is full, please take your waste home. Do not pile it next to the skip, or leave it in the space.

The skip gets emptied approximately every Tuesday. It's collected by a private contractor which means rules about the types of waste can go in it (and thus also what can go in our general waste bins) are not same as your council collection at home! They do not accept solid wood, glass, or batteries!

Wood Waste: Wood waste (including ply and MDF) must always be taken home with you. Please don't leave it in the space or put it in the bins. Bagged sawdust is fine to put in the general bins & skip.

Glass: can be put in the glass bins in the main room. When this is full, you can help out by taking it to the tip or a bottle bank.

E-Waste: can be put in the e-waste bin in the main room. When this is full, you can help out by taking it to the tip.

Batteries: Non-Lithium Batteries can be put in the battery bin in the main room. When this is full, you can help out by taking it to the tip or a battery bank. Don't put Lithium batteries in any of our bins, you must take them home with you.

Food Waste: Do not put this in Hackspace's bins. It attracts pests. You can put it directly in the skip outside, or take it home with you.
