This is an old revision of the document!

Hackracks are spaces for members to donate useful or interesting things for others. They comprise an ever-changing collection of items that anyone can use in their projects.

Our Hackracks are:

  • The Main Hackrack, in the upstairs workshop.
  • The Woodshop Hackrack, for timber and wood fixings.
  • The Metalshop Hackrack, for metal stock and metal fixings.
  • The Electronics Room Component Drawers, for labeled, sorted components.
  • The Textiles Room Scraps Bins.

You are welcome to take anything from a Hackrack and use it however you see fit.

We appreciate donations of genuinely useful or interesting stuff to our Hackracks, it's one of the things that makes Hackspace special, but you must follow the donation guidelines below.

We encourage donations of:

  • Sorted useful parts, hardware, components, and materials.
  • Unusual or interesting stuff.

Things you should not donate:

  • Cheap or broken consumer electronics.
  • Unusable scraps of materal.
  • Unsorted unlabelled jumbles of components, fixing, parts, etc.
  • Stuff we already have lots of.
  • Noxious, explosive, perishable, or highly flammable substances.
  • Lithium Batteries.
  • Printers. Seriously, no more printers.

Please don't leave donations anywhere other than on or in a Hackrack. If there's no space, take your donation home and offer it on the forum instead.

Remember: Donating things is as an opportunity to support other members’ projects by giving them cool and useful stuff. Do not treat it as an opportunity to avoid taking your rubbish home, or as a solution to your hoarding crisis!
