This is an old revision of the document!

General Waste Bins: There are general bins in each room of the Hackspace. These are for landfill and also some types of recycling. When they are full you can empty them into the building's skip.

It's important that we don't completely fill the skip with hackspace waste, or leave waste piled beside it. If the skip is full, please take your waste home instead.

The skip gets emptied approximately every Tuesday, by a private firm. This means the rules about the types of waste that can go in it (and thus also in our general bins) are not same as your council collection at home! They do not accept solid wood, glass, or batteries!

Wood Waste: Wood waste must always be taken home with you. Please don't leave it in the space or put it in the bins. Bagged sawdust is fine to put in the general bins & skip.

Glass: can be put in the glass bin in the main room. When this is full, you can help out by taking it to the tip or a bottle bank.

E-Waste: can be put in the e-waste bin in the main room. When this is full, you can help out by taking it to the tip.

Batteries: Non-Lithium Batteries can be put in the battery bin in the main room. When this is full, you can help out by taking it to the tip or a battery bank. Please don't put Lithium batteries in any of our bins.

Food Waste: Do not put this in Hackspace's bins. It attracts pests. You can put it directly in the skip outside, or take it home with you.
