There are general bins in each room of the Hackspace. These are for landfill and also some types of recycling. When they are full you can empty them into the building's skip. It's important that we don't completely fill the skip with hackspace waste, or leave waste piled beside it. If there's no room, please take your waste home instead. The skip is emptied approximately every Tuesday.

Please note that the skip is collected by a private firm, and so the rules about the types of waste that can go in it (and thus also in our general bins) are not same as your collection at home! It does not accept solid wood, glass, or batteries!

Wood waste must always be taken home with you. Please don't leave it in the space. Bagged sawdust is fine to put in the general bins & skip.

Glass can be put in the glass bin in the main room. When this is full, you can help out by taking it to the tip or a bottle bank.

E-Waste can be put in the e-waste bin in the main room. When this is full, you can help out by taking it to the tip.

Non-Lithium Batteries can be put in the battery bin in the main room. When this is full, you can help out by taking it to the tip or a battery bank. Please don't put Lithium batteries in any of our bins.

Please do not put food waste or teabags in the bins in hackspace as it attract pests. You can put it directly in the skip outside.
