Physical accessibility

(TODO add floorplan here)

Steps

The main entrance has a single step at the front door to enter the space. The roller shutter door can be opened from the inside if step-free access is required.

Once inside, most of the hackspace can be accessed step-free. The only exception is the CNC room which has a small 1cm step in the floor.

Be aware that the fire door in the main room also has a single step outside and leads onto a narrow footpath.

Doors

Most of the hackspace can be accessed through double doors. The doors between the workshop and corridor are heavily spring-loaded with no means of latching them open. The CNC room and toilets only have single doors (TODO measure width).

Toilets

All of our toilets are non-gendered individual cubicals, although unfortunately do not have any accessibility features. Free sanitary products are available if needed.

Noise

The workshop can get quite noisy at times. The CNC room can get noisy too, but to a lesser extent. The main room is generally quiet, except when the workshop door is open.

Temperature

The workshop follows the outside temperature closely so can get quite cold in the winter and warm in the summer. The main room is a bit better controlled, although does get warmer/colder near the end of the seasons. The CNC room is generally the warmest room due to the 3D printers running.

People

The amount of people in the hackspace can very a lot. Open evenings on Thursdays are generally the busiest time. The main room is generally quiet during the day, however sometimes there will be members working between the woodshop and main room.

Diversity

We welcome anybody to the Hackspace. Many of our members are LGBTQ+ and/or neurodivergent, including on the committee. We take our Conduct Policy seriously. Reach out to the committe if there are any issues and we will do our best to help.
